Save the Penicuik Panto!
Save the Penicuik Panto
In 2018, when the cheering stopped and the curtain fell on the Penicuik panto, Mother Goose, no-one knew lockdown was coming and the Penicuik Community Theatre Group would not be able to start planning another show until 2023.
Sharon Cowle is one of the longstanding members of the group, and she is now asking people to come forward to save the Penicuik Panto.
“Lockdown has depleted the group and we need people to get involved and come forward and help us to create Christmas magic.
“Getting involved in the group is a really good experience and it’s not just actors we need. We’re also looking for a backstage crew, scene builders, music and sound technicians and lighting technicians.
“The list doesn’t stop there,” said Sharon. “On the night, we need a backstage team to help with costumes and a front of house team to take tickets and look after the audience.”
Penicuik Community Theatre Group is looking to reform and Sharon explained how much people get out of taking part.
“Members of the group share their skills, learn new ones and become part of something very special.
“Age is totally immaterial, and youngsters are welcome too providing they are accompanied by an adult and if you want to know what pantomime we’re planning to put on, you’ll need to come along to one of the group’s Thursday gatherings and help us choose!”, said Sharon.
